Executive Private Chef – Permanent Placement
Full Time Private Chef
Location: Rosedale, Toronto, Ontario
Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday | 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Compensation: $110,000–$125,000 CAD annually (commensurate with experience)
Vacation & Benefits: Three weeks a year + $2500 Medical allowance
A Rosedale residence is seeking an experienced Private Chef with prior private household experience. This is a refined but relaxed culinary environment where adaptability, and professionalism are essential. Must be willing to work collaboratively with the principal and visit farmers markets with them.
The role is ideal for a chef who is technically strong yet ego-free – equally comfortable preparing a beautifully composed plated dinner as a simple perfectly executed omelets. The family values quality and presentation, but meals are designed for real life, not social media.
The Chef will collaborate closely with the Principal, a full-time Residence Manager and household staff and must understand service flow, timing, and how to integrate seamlessly into an established home environment.
Schedule
Tuesday to Saturdays (Some occasional adjustments to weekly schedule to be anticipated)
11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Anticipated working on most holidays, especially Christmas.
Required for:
Friday evening dinners
Guest dining and seasonal entertaining
Expectations
Prepare lunch and dinner for the principal
Adapt to varied requests – from elevated composed meals to simple comfort dishes.
Focus on a healthy Mediterranean diet with leaning towards French
Maintain consistent quality regardless of complexity.
Friday evening dinners are important where family come over
The Principal enjoys cooking and likes to be involved in the process
Must be confident working collaboratively without ego.
Collaboration & Household Integration
Work effectively with:
Residence Manager
Housekeepers
Service staff
Garden oversight for herbs and vegetables
Understand private household service standards.
Maintain discretion and professionalism at all times.
Anticipate needs without overstepping.
Work collaboratively with the principal when she wants to join in and cook together.
Help the principal maintain an existing recipe database.
Kitchen Environment
Two kitchens on property:
One designated as chef’s domain.
Two Sub-Zero freezers.
High-functioning, well-managed household with a full-time Residence Manager.
Must maintain:
Exceptional organization.
Visually appealing refrigeration and frozen meals.
Clean, structured mise-en place standards
Sourcing & Provisioning
Market visits when required (e.g., Wychwood Barns Farmers’ Market, suppliers).
Sourcing from premium butchers
Manage all food purchasing, inventory, and vendor relationships.
Ensure seasonality and quality control
Requirements
Ideal Candidate Profile
Minimum 3+ years’ full time experience in a private household (mandatory).
Strong culinary foundation (fine dining background an asset)
Comfortable in a structured domestic setting
Knowledge of basic French techniques a must
Organized, calm, and self-directed and adaptable
Understands that excellence can mean restraint.
Provides beautiful mise-en place as well as beautifully presented food for future meals
Able to shift from refined dinner service to a simple family request seamlessly.
Must own a vehicle
